Washington, District of Columbia
The Washington Post Heliport was a landing pad associated with the former headquarters of The Washington Post newspaper in downtown Washington, D.C. In the era before drone photography, news organizations relied heavily on helicopters for traffic reporting and breaking news coverage. The heliport allowed for quick deployment of news crews.
With the relocation of the newspaper's headquarters and changes in newsgathering technology, the original facility is no longer in use as it once was. It remains a part of the history of journalism in the capital, representing a time when aerial news gathering was centered in the heart of the city.
