The MPD 5th District Heliport served the Metropolitan Police Department's operations in the northeastern quadrant of Washington, D.C. It provided a landing zone for police helicopters assisting in crime prevention, pursuit, and surveillance activities within the district.
Like other district heliports, its usage evolved with changes in the Aviation Unit's structure and fleet. It remains a reference point in the history of law enforcement aviation in the District of Columbia.
