Portland, Oregon
The Portland Japanese Garden is a 12-acre haven of tranquility located within Washington Park. Proclaimed by the former Ambassador of Japan to the U.S. as 'the most beautiful and authentic Japanese garden in the world outside of Japan', it offers a serene escape from the city.
The garden features eight distinct garden styles, including a Strolling Pond Garden with a moon bridge, a Sand and Stone Garden, and a Natural Garden. The Cultural Village, designed by Kengo Kuma, includes a learning center and a cafe with tea service.
Stroll through the meticulously maintained paths, admire the koi ponds and waterfalls, and enjoy a view of Mount Hood from the pavilion. Visitors can also participate in cultural demonstrations, art exhibitions, and tea ceremonies.
