About

Overview

The Space Needle is Seattle's most iconic landmark, built for the 1962 World's Fair. Standing 605 feet tall, this futuristic observation tower offers panoramic views of the downtown skyline, Puget Sound, the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. It features an observation deck with a rotating glass floor, providing a unique perspective of the city below.

Architecture

Designed by Edward E. Carlson and John Graham Jr., the tower was built to withstand high winds and earthquakes. Its saucer-shaped top and tripod legs make it a distinct example of Googie architecture. A rapid elevator ride takes visitors to the top, where they can enjoy dining and breathtaking 360-degree vistas.
