About

Overview

Smith Tower is a historic skyscraper in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood. Completed in 1914, it was the first skyscraper in Seattle and remained the tallest building west of the Mississippi River for nearly half a century. The 38-story tower is famous for its neoclassical architecture and its observation deck offering 360-degree views.

Features

The building retains much of its original character, including manually operated elevators and ornate brass and marble finishes. The 'Chinese Room' near the top, a gift from the Empress of China, is a highlight of the tour. Today, the tower houses offices and a speakeasy-style bar at the observatory level.
