It is the only legal surfing beach in NYC. The concrete boardwalk stretches for 5.5 miles, perfect for biking and walking.
Surf or take lessons, swim in the Atlantic, enjoy tacos at the concession stands, or visit the playgrounds along the shore.
Summer (June-August) for swimming. September and October offer the best waves for surfers and cooler weather.
Free public beach. Swimming is only allowed when lifeguards are on duty (10 AM - 6 PM in season).
Restrooms, spray showers, and drinking fountains are spaced along the boardwalk. Several food concessions serve tacos, burgers, and drinks.
The NYC Ferry from Wall St or Sunset Park is the most scenic way to arrive. The A train also stops right near the beach.
