The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is an architectural icon designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Its unique spiral ramp displays modern and contemporary art.
The building itself is the primary highlight. The Thannhauser Collection includes works by Picasso, Van Gogh, and Degas.
Walk the continuous spiral ramp from top to bottom, viewing art along the curved walls. Visit the rotunda to see the skylight.
Monday is a good day as many other museums are closed. Saturday evenings (5-8 PM) are Pay-What-You-Wish but expect long lines.
Timed tickets are encouraged. Backpacks must be worn on the front or checked. Photography is allowed but no tripods/selfie sticks.
Cafe 3 offers refreshments with a view of Central Park. The museum store has excellent art books and design objects.
Take the elevator to the top and walk down the ramp for the easiest experience. Check current exhibitions as the main ramp changes frequently.
