Columbus, Georgia
The Ohio Statehouse is one of the finest examples of Greek Revival architecture in the United States. Completed in 1861 after 22 years of construction, the limestone capitol building features a central rotunda and a cupola that allows natural light to flood the interior, symbolizing the transparency of democracy.
As the functioning seat of Ohio's state government, the building houses the Ohio General Assembly and the offices of the Governor. It is also a site of significant historical events, including where President Abraham Lincoln lay in state, and serves as a museum educating the public about the state's political history.
