Columbus, Georgia
The Kelton House Museum and Garden offers a glimpse into the Victorian era and the history of the abolitionist movement. Built in 1852 by Fernando Cortez Kelton, the home was a stop on the Underground Railroad, where the family provided shelter to freedom seekers escaping slavery.
Operated by the Junior League of Columbus, the museum preserves the original furnishings and decorative arts of the Kelton family. Visitors can tour the restored rooms and the Victorian-style garden, learning about the daily life, customs, and social causes of a prominent 19th-century Columbus family.
