Reports indicate the heliport (FAA LID: IL69) has been listed as closed indefinitely. It was historically used for police aviation operations.
When active, it supported law enforcement missions, including aerial surveillance and rapid deployment units. The pad was restricted to police and fire department helicopters.
The site is near the current Chicago Public Safety Headquarters, which houses the police and fire departments' administrative offices.
