About

A Monument to Statehood

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is a 19-acre urban park located in the shadow of the Tennessee State Capitol in downtown Nashville. Opened in 1996 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Tennessee's statehood, the park is designed to serve as a lasting monument to the state's history and natural wonders. It features a 200-foot granite map of the state, the Rivers of Tennessee Fountains, and a 95-bell carillon that plays Tennessee-themed songs at scheduled intervals, representing the state's 95 counties.

The park is laid out to offer a journey through time, with the "Pathway of History" wall chronicling significant events in Tennessee's past. Native plant gardens showcase the diverse flora of the state's three grand divisions. The park also serves as a venue for major city events, including the New Year's Eve celebration, and provides spectacular views of the Capitol building, making it a must-visit destination for history buffs and nature lovers alike.
