The Winchester Mystery House is a world-famous Victorian mansion built by Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester rifle fortune. Construction continued around the clock for 38 years, resulting in a sprawling structure with 160 rooms, staircases leading to nowhere, and doors opening into walls.
Legend has it that Sarah built the house to appease the spirits of those killed by Winchester rifles. Today, it is a popular tourist attraction offering tours of its bizarre architecture and beautiful gardens.
