Memphis, Tennessee
Sun Studio is the legendary recording studio known as the 'Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll'. Opened by Sam Phillips in 1950, it is where icons like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins launched their careers.
The studio remains much as it was in the 1950s, filled with original memorabilia and equipment. It is famous for the 'Million Dollar Quartet' session and the first rock and roll single, 'Rocket 88'.
Visitors can take a guided tour to hear the stories behind the music, stand in the very spot where Elvis recorded, and see the microphone used by the legends. The studio is still active for recording sessions at night.
