Long Beach, California
Rancho Los Cerritos is a historic site in Long Beach, preserving a 19th-century adobe ranch house and gardens. It tells the story of the region's Spanish, Mexican, and American past.
The restored adobe home is filled with period furnishings. The lush historic gardens, including century-old trees, are beautiful and tranquil.
Take a guided tour of the house to learn about its history, wander through the gardens, or attend one of the educational programs or festivals.
Visit during the designated open hours, usually Wednesday through Sunday. Spring is lovely when the gardens are in full bloom.
Admission is generally free, though donations are appreciated. Free parking is available in the lot onsite.
There is a visitor center with a small museum shop. Restrooms are available. The grounds are partially accessible, but the historic house has some limitations.
Check the schedule for "Living History" days for a more immersive experience. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the garden paths.
The Virginia Country Club area surrounds the rancho. You can also visit the nearby Los Cerritos Park.
