The Ribault Monument is located atop St. Johns Bluff, one of the highest points in Jacksonville, offering commanding views of the St. Johns River and the surrounding marshes. The monument commemorates the 1562 landing of French explorer Jean Ribault, who claimed the region for France. It features a replica of the stone column Ribault erected to mark his claim.
The site is part of the Fort Caroline National Memorial and provides a scenic overlook that is accessible by a short trail. It is a significant historical marker that highlights the early French exploration of Florida. Visitors come for the history as well as the panoramic vistas of the river and the Timucuan Preserve.
