Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) is the primary international airport serving the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Located in Northern Virginia, it is a major hub for long-haul domestic and international flights. The airport is renowned for its iconic main terminal designed by Eero Saarinen, a masterpiece of mid-century modern architecture with its sweeping, hammock-like roof.
Dulles connects the capital region to destinations worldwide and is known for its unique "mobile lounges" that transport passengers between terminals, although an automated AeroTrain system now handles most traffic.
