Offutt Air Force Base is a major United States Air Force installation located near Bellevue, just south of Omaha, Nebraska. It is the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), which oversees the country's strategic nuclear forces. The base has a rich history, dating back to its time as Fort Crook.
Offutt is a key economic and cultural driver for the Omaha area. While access is restricted, the base plays a pivotal role in national defense and is home to the 55th Wing, the largest wing in the Air Force's Air Combat Command.
