Las Vegas, Nevada
Nellis Air Force Base, located in Las Vegas, Nevada, is one of the most significant military installations in the United States. Established in 1941 as the Las Vegas Army Airfield, it was renamed in 1950 to honor Lieutenant William Harrell Nellis, a P-47 pilot killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge.
Known as the 'Home of the Fighter Pilot,' Nellis is the headquarters for the United States Air Force Warfare Center. It hosts the famous Red Flag air combat exercises and is the home base of the USAF Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds. The base plays a pivotal role in advanced combat training and tactics development.
