Known as the 'hidden diamond' of Winston-Salem, Salem Lake is a 365-acre lake surrounded by a 7-mile unpaved trail. It serves as a major recreational hub for anglers, boaters, runners, and cyclists, offering a peaceful natural retreat just minutes from the city center.
The 7-mile loop trail is the main attraction, offering scenic water views and a flat surface perfect for exercise. The pier and marina area provide excellent access for fishing.
Walk, run, or bike the 7-mile trail. Rent a johnboat or kayak from the marina, or fish from the pier. The park also features a playground and picnic areas.
Spring and fall offer comfortable temperatures for the long loop trail. Early mornings are best for fishing and wildlife viewing.
Park access is free. Fishing and boating require permits/fees. Boat rentals are seasonal. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

The trail connects to the Salem Creek Greenway, allowing for longer excursions. Dogs must be on a leash.
