Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, located near the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is one of the largest urban sculpture gardens in the country. In the "Camping Sites / Parks & Gardens" category, this 11-acre park showcases more than 40 permanent art installations. Visitors should go to enjoy art in a beautiful outdoor setting with the city skyline as a backdrop.
The most famous highlight is the "Spoonbridge and Cherry" sculpture, an iconic symbol of Minneapolis. Other notable works include the "Hahn/Cock" (the big blue rooster) and the "Love" sculpture. The garden also features the Cowles Conservatory (seasonal).
Stroll through the garden paths to admire the sculptures. Take photos with the iconic artworks. Relax on the benches or grassy areas. In the summer, enjoy a game of artist-designed mini-golf (fee applies).
The garden is open year-round from 6 am to midnight. Early morning or sunset offers the best light for photography. Summer is the most popular season, but the sculptures also look striking against winter snow.
Admission to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is free. It is a public park open to all. Paid parking is available in the Walker Art Center ramp or on nearby streets. The paths are paved and accessible.
Restrooms are available in the Walker Art Center during museum hours. In summer, portable toilets may be available. There are no food vendors inside the garden, but restaurants are nearby.
Bring water and sunscreen in the summer. The garden is very instagrammable, so have your phone ready. It connects to Loring Park via the Irene Hixon Whitney Bridge, making for a longer scenic walk.
The Walker Art Center is immediately adjacent. Loring Park is across the bridge. The Basilica of Saint Mary is a short walk away.
