Overview

The North Carolina State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark located in downtown Raleigh. Completed in 1840, it is one of the finest preserved examples of the Greek Revival style of architecture in the United States.

The building originally housed all of North Carolina's state government. Today, it contains the offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor and serves as a museum of state history and government.
