Chicago, Illinois
Cloud Gate, popularly known as 'The Bean', is a public sculpture located in Millennium Park in Chicago. Designed by artist Anish Kapoor, it is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks.
The sculpture is made of 168 stainless steel plates welded together and highly polished to have no visible seams. Its mirrored surface reflects the city's skyline and the clouds above.
Visitors can walk around and underneath the 12-foot high arch of the sculpture. The distorted reflections provide a unique and playful photographic opportunity for millions of tourists.
Unveiled in 2004, Cloud Gate has become a symbol of modern Chicago. It anchors the AT&T Plaza and serves as a major focal point within the larger park.
